This projects page is intended to provide insight into the variety of new works underway on the site, including projects, or significant repairs and maintenance projects (renewals) we have underway at both the Vessel Works facility and across the wider 3.4 hectare Marine Precinct.
Bridge Wharf Renewals 2019
A renewals project is underway to upgrade the first three fingers on the Bridge Wharf. Timber component within the three fingers were identified as being close to the end of life, so these are being replaced. Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) decking has been selected to replacetimber decking. A trial has been underway on finger pier 1 and 2 with differing types of FRP decking.
The project will work around the seasonal demands for berthing on the pier along with contrcator availability with the pier returned to full use in early 2020.
The renewals project has also added the replacement access gate to the wharf. The replacement gate will be automated and provide a means of securing the bridge wharf but providing easy access for those with larger and taller items to transport down the wharf.

Finger piers 4 and 5 were replaced in 2012/13. User feedback has indicated that the timber decking installed at that time being too narrow to allow safe access too and from the vessels, so the renewals programme has included the replacement of these timber decks with wider decking.
A trial has been underway on finger pier 5 with a trial section of decking installed, with feedback to date indicating the wider decking using the non slip RFP product as being a valuable upgrade.
The Bridge Wharf renewals project will include the upgrading of the security access gate to the wharf.

The existing gate will be upgraded
The project is also considering expanding the recycling centre, to provide space for the bins that are currently unable to be housed within the existing enclosure shown below.

Fencing and Planting Project
Now that stage one of Vessel Works is near completion we have an ongoing programme of fencing the remaining leased and unleased Lot areas around the 3.4 hectare site.
The fencing works will allow untenanted areas on the site to be leased to other marine service providers until any future expansion of the precinct.

Land Lots on Cross Rd to be fenced
One untenanted area has been allocated as a storage yard for the storage of vessel containers as shown in the image above. The yard will be fully secure with CCTV coverage over the storage area.
